I need to speed up the food testing. I have Dragon*Con in 5 days and I need more portable options to eat that agree with my system!
Edamame – 1.5 ounces as a snack and had no immediate pains or burping. I originally bought these for the Toddler (at Target), but with 3 net carbs and 5 protein in an individual package, these will make a great snack for me too.
Chick-fil-A Nuggets – 6 of them over 30 minutes just to give my stomach time to make up it’s mind and I had no immediate problems. With about 8 carbs and 20 protein, these are definitely a winner.
Smoked turkey deli meat and cream cheese rolls – each slice of meat is one ounce so I had 3 of them, each with 1 tablespoon of cream cheese rolled into it. The turkey has 8.6 grams of protein per ounce, so I will be having these often. The cream cheese offset the relative lack of fat in the meat, making this a great option for me.
Shrimp – 3 ounces of steamed shrimp with 1 teaspoon of Trader Joe’s Seafood Cocktail Sauce. Dang that sauce was hot and spicy! I did not need much to enhance the shrimp at all. I got gassy after eating it but there could have been a number of reasons behind that, or even the time of night since I tend to be much more gassy at night. I still consider it a success since it did not cause the lead balloon feeling in my stomach or make me make sacrifices to the porcelain god. The shrimp had 18 grams of protein and the cocktail sauce had 1 gram of carbs per teaspoon, so this will be a frequent visitor on my menu.
